Lycos is a simple, easy–to–use email system. Lycos provides 3GB of email storage space. It has a spam filter with the choice of three strengths, “off,” “on” and “exclusive.” Exclusive spam filtering is the equivalent of using black/ white lists. Only address on your “White list” will be sent to your inbox. Lycos will also restrict automatic downloads and images for additional safety.

To organize you inbox you can create additional folders; however, Lycos does not allow you to set up custom filters to sort specific conversations or unwanted emails.

The only additional feature Lycos mail offers is mobile access using WAP. They do not include a calendar, notes feature, notifier or online storage. Additionally, if you would like POP3 access you have to upgrade to one of Lycos’ paid services.

We found Lycos’ help section to be frustrating. While the FAQs answer many questions, the search feature would not produce relevant results for common terms like “virus.”
